Job description | People Manager Naval Architects

As People Manager of a team of around 15 (Junior) Naval Architects you are the leader and coach of approximately 15 Marine Engineers (Junior Naval Architects). A young, international group of highly educated Engineers, who want to develop themselves and who need to be coached on behavior and in the execution of their work. You ensure that the aimed for goals and results are achieved and exceeded with pleasure.

This international agency, with a total of 170 employees, specializes in Design, Engineering and R&D of luxury custom-built Superyachts. It is the creative center of a renowned Mega Yacht Building company with several yards in the Netherlands, and is involved in projects from concept to sea trial and delivery.

The organization has a strongly project-oriented matrix structure, in which Project Managers and Lead Engineers from the various disciplines are allocated knowledge and capacity from the various Pools. As a Pool Manager you are responsible for the adequate capacity planning of the Naval Engineers for the various concept and basic design projects. To do this, you perform the following tasks:

  • Coaching, developing and training the Engineers of your department
  • Act as the right-hand person of the Manager Naval Architecture & Structural Engineering
  • Aligning capacity needs for customer-specific and R&D projects with the various colleagues and making a planning of the available knowledge, skills and capacity in your department.
  • Co-defining the R&D agenda and development topics and monitoring progress of ongoing improvement initiatives

Job requirements | People Manager Naval Architects

  • Bsc. or MSc. in a relevant engineering discipline, preferably with insight into Shipbuilding processes
  • Clear communicator and excellent coach, who sets goals, enthuses and motivates.
  • +5 years of experience in a leadership role in technical matrix and/or project organization
  • Broad technical insight and up-to-date knowledge of design engineering tooling and working methods
  • Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch in writing and speaking

  • €65.000 - €85.000 gross per year, depending on your seniority and background
