Your opportunity

As a Maintenance Engineer within the Fleet Management department, you are accountable for overseeing a fleet of 30+ pilot boats across four regions in the Netherlands. You are the driving force behind selecting, implementing, and managing a new maintenance system. Through the integration of this new application, the goal is to achieve standardization in maintenance strategy and warehouse management, optimize processes within fleet management, and ensure the reliability of the entire fleet. With your innovative vision of Smart Maintenance, you know how to provide support within the team

What you will do

  • Lead the setup, development, and management of the new CMMS system
  • Serve as an advisor to the Fleet Management Manager offering insights into maintenance strategy and addressing organizational issues
  • Conduct (risk/malfunction) analyses and formulate predictive/improvement scenarios for maintenance
  • Develop an innovative vision for Smart Maintenance and cultivate support for its implementation
  • Take charge of formulating and timely adjusting the multi-year maintenance plan, ensuring its accurate implementation

Where you will work

Our client, the Pilot Association, contributes to the safe and smooth handling of shipping traffic throughout the Netherlands with approximately 450 registered pilots. The four regions are supported by a professional organization based in the Rotterdam area. Within this, the Fleet Management department is responsible for the technical availability, deployability and reliability of the fleet of more than 30 pilot vessels. With almost 25 colleagues, she is responsible for the new construction program, maintenance and modification of the vessels and shore installations. She oversees the market-based procurement of goods, services and inventory management at all locations.

What you already have

  • MSc. or BSc. in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering
  • Experience as a Maintenance Engineer within Maritime Industry, or a similar environment
  • Good working knowledge of ERP and Asset Management software
  • Proficient knowledge of maintenance systems and Smart Maintenance
  • Affinity with analytics tools, with the ability to perform thorough risk analyses
  • Innovative mindset with a keen interest in continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent Dutch so you can communicate efficiently with your team
  • Avaliable for full-time in Hoek van Holland, but with option to work hybrid
